How to prepare for a horoscope consultation
Three details, one accurate birth time and a short list of questions — what to bring so your reading is useful.
A horoscope reading is only as good as the details it starts from. A little preparation makes the consultation clearer and saves time for the questions that matter.
1. Find the most reliable birth time
The ascendant (lagnam) changes roughly every two hours, and finer divisions change within minutes. A time recorded on a hospital birth certificate is usually the most reliable. If the family horoscope or a parent's memory is the only source, mention that — it helps the astrologer judge how much weight to give time-sensitive conclusions.
2. Note the place of birth precisely
The town or village and district are enough. The place is used to calculate local sunrise and the correct chart.
3. Bring any existing horoscope
Even an old or partly damaged jathagam is useful: it can be checked against a fresh calculation, and it often records details the family has forgotten.
4. Write down your questions
People often come with one main concern — a job change, a marriage proposal, a child's education, property. Writing two or three questions keeps the reading focused. It is also fine to ask for a general reading.
5. Be ready for honest answers
A good consultation explains why a period looks favourable or difficult. Astrology offers traditional guidance; it does not guarantee outcomes, and important medical, legal or financial decisions should also involve qualified professionals.
Tip: for an online consultation, keep a clear photo of your horoscope ready to send after your request is confirmed.
